Double world glory for champ Louise
Oct 14, 2008
Louise Fox, daughter of March couple Winston and Wendy Fox, is the new world champion in two of the three individual power-lifting categories.
Competing in Antwerp, Belgium, over the weekend against the best power-lifters the world, Louise won the squat-lift on Friday when she tied with Bulgarian Marranova with both recording 100kls (15st 10 lbs), but as her body-weight was one kgm less than her competitor, Louise took the title.
On Saturday, in her weakest event – the bench press – she lifted 67.5kgms (10st 8lbs) to get the runner-up spot, with the winning lift being 70kgms.
Sunday's competition was Louise's favourite event – the dead-lift – which she dominated to become a double world champion.
She already held the world record at 155kgms and improved this to set a new world best lift of 160.5kgms (25st 3lbs).
Louise's body weight is only 53.5 kgms (8st 6lbs) which means she is lifting three times her own weight.
In December Louise travels to America to compete in the combined world championships with her confidence high after last weekend's triumph.
